CAREFUL!!! WE HAVE BUT 50 copies left of this BANGER!!!!!! GET INVOLVED! ..this could be ebay fodder sooner than you think...Woooooo yeah!! heres a hot one for ya....these will not sit about..Tough Love Records issue the first in a series of double A side split singles designed to bring together musical kindred spirits. Featuring a track each from London-based three-piece Male Bonding and Portland, Oregon's Eat Skull, the record showcases the breadth and ingenuity of the emerging lo-fi scene. Limited to just 500 copies and with artwork designed by Male Bonding drummer Robin Christian Silas, the 7" is both a direct embodiment of the DIY spirit and destined to be a rare collectors item. Eat Skull, one of our fave US acts of past coupla years drop a super limited 7" (we're getting 400...no snoozing possible!)split with some UK kins of sweet abrasive pop "grunge"..Male Bonding..this being MB's fourth split to date, they've now gone and only signed to SUB POP: the first UK band for 10 years...signed to Sub Pop, you know, that label that pretty much invented the good music of the late 80s / 90s...no returns, no deals, no hanging about..
Hailing from the U.S. West Coast, Eat Skull are a sunshine noise pop band with their sights set firmly on good times. Signed to pioneering US indie Siltbreeze (Psychedelic Horseshit, Tyvek, Times New Viking), the four piece have over the course of two albums (Sick To Death in 2008 and Wild and Inside this year) churned out consistently ragged pop nuggets with evil twisted centres, possessing a clear aesthetic affinity with the Dunedin sound. And their efforts have not gone unnoticed, receiving critical plaudits across the board and playing rapturously received gigs at SXSW. They?ve also found huge fans in contemporaries No Age and Times New Viking, while reaching out to audiences craving something a little more gritty and celebratory than pervasive careerist indie rock. The release of ?Heaven?s Stranger? marks their first official release in the UK, with the band planning a jaunt over here later in the year. Although geographically miles apart, Male Bonding have their heart in the same sonic territory as Eat Skull. Featuring two members of no-wave titans PRE, Male Bonding are at the centre of the London lo-fi scene, with their own record label Paradise Vendours Inc set up to document the fecund musical climate in which they find themselves. Hidden beneath edgy layers of reverb and cowbell is a soft pop heart which the band openly admits is concerned with simply ?girls and space travel?. It?s in that playful admission that the aim of Male Bonding is made clear: to have fun. Eschewing the po-faced pretentions that often characterise underground music, Male Bonding are out to enjoy themselves, showing love for Weezer and The Wipers in equal measure. Having toured with Vivian Girls and played numerous high profile shows both in the UK and across the pond, Male Bonding are a social animal with that rarest of qualities: a strong work ethic. Recorded with Rory Bratwell, the release of ?Year?s Not Long? marks the fourth split single release for the band and precedes a forthcoming Flipper tribute 12? on Domino. EAT SKULL: Rod Meyer (guitar) // Rob Enbom (guitar/vox) // Scott Simmons (bass) // Kyle ?Cobra? Huth (drums) MALE BONDING: John Arthur Webb (guitar/vox) // Kevin Charles Hendrix (guitar/vox) // Robin Christian Silas (drums/vox)

Details
The next slew of Third Man Records start with: Dan Sartain started out in 2001 self-producing and self-releasing his first two albums, Crimson Guard and Romance in Stereo, before moving to Swami Records for the groundbreaking Dan Sartain vs. The Serpientes and Join Dan Sartain. He's been called the no-wave Johnny Cash, and although it's a title with a lot of flash, it's also somewhat misleading. Comparisons to Johnny Cash are inevitably futile. But what Dan is is another vital link in the rock and roll visionary chain stretching from Rufus Thomas to Glenn Danzig to O.D.B. He's a fiercely independent romantic like no other and we're proud to be working with him. Third Man Records presents two new Jack White-produced songs in our Blue Series of 7" records written and performed by Dan Sartain, sounding nothing like anything he's recorded in the past. "Bohemian Grove" is an almost Ethiopiques-influenced jazz-style groover and the B-side is called "Atheist Funeral." Enough said. Mr Jack White plays piano on "Bohemian Grove" ...INDIE stores only, no returns. (stock should arrive so that we can give this a 24th August release date)

Details
Transit is a band whose membership is composed entirely of employees of the Nashville Metro Transit Authority. They are part of a long-standing folk tradition of people coming together to make something beautiful out of a shared external circumstance. From the Detroit Sanitary Worker's Band or the American Watch Company Band, there is deep history of music that reflects employee's shared experiences and brings them to the wider attention of the public at large. Third Man Records presents two songs produced by Jack White that are by and about the Nashville bussing system, written and recorded by the people who know it best; the drivers, cleaners, mechanics, and office workers of the Nashville Metro Transit Authority. They are called Transit and this record is the fifth release in Third Man's Blue Series. We should get stock in time to give 24th August release date: INDIE stores only, no returns.
