NEW VINYL PRICING!!! We loved this album in 2008, its getting released as a 2CD with their first album on Melodic, vinyl only from forte on the goner label. good to see the press that ignored the promos we sent out last year, lapping it up now..well done!! This got the Australian equivalent of the Mercury Prize: compared to Elbow, who one the UK one, this kind of proves how bland the UK prize is...if you like the soft pack / strokes or any of that other weak stuff, then this might be the adrenalin boost your ears need. Well, after listening to heaps of Goner releases over the years, its time for Forte to Distro the label, and to kick that off is the first US release by Australian scuzz rock combo Eddy Current Suppression Ring, its like the Modern Lovers as done by the Victims (aus victims mind): or even Richard Hell fronting Television on really really bad crank...in other words, its nothing short of brilliant. The total opposite to all that lameo / formulaic so-called garage rock (aka "rock" for estate agents) thats foisted about by weak yank / uk bands who got wood when they heard the strokes first album. For fans of Pagans, X (Aus), Victims, Television, Thomas Jefferson Slave Appts...yes, believe it..Crypt Records, Dogmeat Records..etc..one of the best records of 2008!

Vinyl veriosn of the s/t LP reissue (part of the 2cd "new" release on Melodic) In a world where indie pop music has gone murky and mopey, songs by garage bands are used to sell cars on TV, and real punk rock is in hiding, it's nice to find a band that didn't get the memo. Of course, they are from Australia. Eddy Current Suppression Ring is four guys who worked together at a vinyl pressing plant in Melbourne and decided to start a band at the company Christmas bash after-party. Live practice tapes soon developed into sold-out singles and increasingly packed shows, and Eddy Current Suppression Ring grew into a uniquely sincere and simple band that creates increasingly indefinable music. Yes, there are discernible influences: The Stooges, Can, The Fall, or Devo. But they don't sound like any of those bands-or anyone else, for that matter.
