FAIR OHS - 'THE SINGLES SINGLE'

Formats
  • HH002 - 7"
    N/A
Details

A TRIBUTE TO PAUL WESTERBERG: Fair Ohs release a super limited Record Store Day only single (300 COPIES ONLY), a tribute to one of their musical heroes, Paul Westerberg. Taking the two tracks Westerberg had featured on the soundtrack of the seminal grunge-era film Singles, and putting their unique stamp all over it. A really special piece of vinyl in a screen-printed sleeve, specially recorded and lovingly crafted for the most important day in the independent music calendar. Says Eddy Fair Oh: Cameron Crowe's Singles was a film about a time, place and generation that had almost nothing to do with us. We're not from Seattle, we're at the younger end of the grunge spectrum and, as far as i know, sadly none of us have been in a relationship with Bridget Fonda. But, somehow, something about the film resonates with all three of us. Maybe it's the ideal we hold of early 90s Seattle life - forming bands with dudes from Mudhoney, watching nature documentaries with Stone Gossard and wearing tights under our shorts. It's the dream, you know? But Singles gave us more than just the opportunity to imagine what it was like to live in early 90s Seattle and have Bridget Fonda fall in love with you for saying Gezundheit - for me at least, Singles gave me the Replacements. Paul Westerberg's two songs on the soundtrack, his first work as a solo artist, were the best thing on an already amazing compilation and were my first introduction to the man that would soon become my favourite ever songwriter. The Replacements, and Paul Westerberg, totally shaped how i approach music and have had a pretty big impact on Fair Ohs too. These two songs are two of the best songs Westerberg has written, and I really hope we did them some kind of justice.

OSCILLATION, THE - 'NO PLACE TO GO'

Formats
  • ATL008 - 7"
    N/A
Details

A limited run of 200 copies to coincide with rsd 2012, this 7" features two brand new tracks from The Oscillation. Showcasing a band who's live shows since their second album release "Veils" in Spring 2011 have taken in wider and wider audiences across Europe, "No Place To Go" is a full throttle juggernaut of howling psychedelic power that clearly betrays the tension and energy of a band honed by weeks and months spent on the road. In contrast to this "Insect Attention" evokes the sound of the studio, where the band have been busy working on their third LP, which looks set to be ready before the end of 2012.
