THEE CORMANS are L.A.'s most hated sons. Three giant gnarly weirdos, with the decorum of cavemen, donning biker vests, and monster masks that have been stomping around the west coast stealing women, destroying clubs, and berating those foolish enough to share the stage with them for the past six years. They leave nothing but a pile of rubble and a cloud of filthy exhaust in their wake, and appeal to only the sleaziest and greasiest of miscreants. Well we got em to give us two fuzzed out surf romps about Indians. You can hear Mingo and his war party circling the wagon train, or is that Thee Cormans tearing their choppers up and down the aisles of the corner grocery freaking out the local squares. If anyone is fit for the title of TOTAL PUNKS these guys are it. Not getting many of this fuzz stomper, dont be square and miss it...

London's Sauna Youth follow up their acclaimed debut lp 'Dreamlands' with a brand new two track single on Static Shock, but those who are only hoping for Dreamlands Pt.II are likely to be disappointed. This is (for this release, at least) Sauna Youth reborn as a c86 indie pop band. These two female fronted tracks (one being a unique interpretation of a Pissed Jeans song!) sound so good they could have been released back in the day on the Subway Organization or 53rd and 3rd. The music is raw and simple like a slowed down Ramones but the vocals are sugar sweet with lots of backing harmonies. If you love the Fizzbombs, The Flatmates or The Rosehips you will instantly fall in love with these two perfect under three minute indie pop gems. Limited to 500 copies. A download code is included.

Drakelow is the new 26-minute EP by Epic45. Written in response to a visit that two of the band undertook to an abandoned underground military complex, the sound captures perfectly the spirit and atmosphere of the surroundings that inspired it. "Drakelow" evokes a dark, brooding menace as deep drones and cavernous reverberations engulf the listener. The music is by turns dense and claustrophobic, nostalgic and full of longing. Best played at night, in the dark, on headphones, the EP is profoundly and deeply affecting. If you're after musical comparisons, there are certain similarities with the 'isolationist' school of ambient or the alien soundscapes of Biosphere and Fennesz. This is not purely mood music, however, as tracks like "English Clock Systems" and "They Cut into the Hill" ably demonstrate, Epic45 can weave sublime melodies. What is clear is that Epic45 have excelled themselves and pushed their music into new and unexpected territories. These days, too few bands are prepared to take risks. Epic45 are clearly one of those that do, and when such experiments yield results like "Drakelow", we should be all the more thankful for it. We're getting 300 of this, on coloured vinyl..
