THE HEADS - 'DEAD IN THE WATER'

**LONG OVERDUE CD REPRESS** Bristol psychedelic noise purveyors, Kraut rock obscurist obsessives and Stoogian riff worshippers the Heads kick-start a whole slew of deluxe Heads reissues (more later this year!) with a CD proper issue of their lauded 100 only CDR / deluxe 2LP (on Invada/Cargo) "Dead In The Water". Remastered for proper CD issue by Latch Manghat (Taint) its sequenced as four sides, not 30 plus tracks, so you get the effect of listening to the Double vinyl format, without having to get up and change sides. Effectively a collection of works in progress, monster jams, riffs to infinity, white noise maelstrom, and garage fuzz / spuzz...the Heads deliver the goods! This record is quite possibly the best thing from the Bristol fourpiece since their monster opus "Everybody Knows We Got Nowhere"; Riffs, just churning, steamrolling and destroying, far more than any High Rise / Musica Transonic fan could wish for, vocals?? who cares, driving destructo rhythms that lay waste to anything heard on so called doom labels, guitar leads and out there avant improvs that will have shred / bread heads leaping off their towering piles of so called "psyche / new weird america" CDRs, Lathes, whatever...this is a non stop pummel of every sense, and yet theres some subtle droneathons amongst the maelstrom that will make a Rugby resident hang up his Spacemen suit...your teeth will ache, your mind will expand.. (info from 2007/8) 2008 is a busy year (their busiest in many a moon) following a rare live outing at Portishead's ATP in december 2007, it seems there will be a reissue of their seminal debut "Relaxing With" later in the year, some singles, and more live shows in one year than in the past ten! They play Roadburn (sold out) in April, the Rocket Records 10 year Anniversary, a Butchers Hook 17th year anniversary, and a selection of UK / EU dates in July with fellow travellers Wooden Shjips. You havent heard the Heads?? this is a perfect starting point... fans of Wooden Shjips, Hawkwind jamming with Ron Asheton?, PSF label, Sunburned hand of the Man live (if using Motorhead's backline) etc etc....simply cannot recommend this highly enough. Killer artwork thats not for the libellous wary too. Not for fans of indie rock / britpop ....
