Let me introduce you to Skate Psych band Dr Chan from the south of Paris. Mixing Californian skate punk sounds like Fidlar and rubbing some King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard freakout psych into the wound while flirting with themes and spleen from Floridian Death rap like $uicideboy$. Southside Suicide is the bands most mature record to date. With this release they’ve really found their sound, filling the album with song after song of catchy hooks and melodies. The songs sung in English with a strong French accent remind you of some old 60’s French Nuggets compilation. This in itself brings it’s own unique character to the whole sound. Dr Chan have a slacker vibe that adds an element of fun to the rock n roll sound. This is one of if not the best garage album to come out of France for a long time. The band released an EP at the beginning of 2016 and quickly followed it up with an album on Black Totem Records. Southside Suicide is available on vinyl, CD and digitally. The first 100 vinyl are limited edition pink with black splatter while the rest are on black vinyl.

Filthy Frozen River Rag’ is a collage of snapshots – a high(low?)light reel of a period of time when things were in a definite state of flux. The tracks drift in and out of cohesion, and things occasionally veer off into a no man’s land similar to the grey area between dreams and REM sleep, with the occasional nightmare thrown in for good measure Although there is a mix of full band tracks and solo performances, the majority of the material is made up of rough hewn acoustic songs that were recorded in that manner intentionally, and not as sketches or demos (how much better are some of those Ray Davis demos than finished Kinks songs?)

Here we have it! Just a few short months after the ace ‘Stuck in the Mud’ single came out on NYC label GREENWAY RECORDS, Ghost Car are returning with another 45! Following hot from the heels of the last single we see Clara, Laura, Maria and Maeve speeding off and crashing through some rickety old garage rock barriers once again in their flash new GHOST CAR with ‘Woman in the Shadows’. A lone screeching guitar cased in fuzz tones cracks this vinyl open like a starter pistol at a night time 100m dash, building up to what sounds like a Stooges style protopunk workout that makes one mighty fine pedestal for some mighty fine screams and shouts about the ladies in rock and roll and the arts. We’re stoked this track is seeing the light of day and the cool darkness of a 45 single, if your needle still has life in it from spinning their last single to near death then you’ll be sure to finish it off with this track.

Phoenician Drive EP ‘Two Coins’ out on Stolen Body Records, EXAG’ Records and Rockerill Records At the crossroads of music traditions from all around the Mediterranean and psychedelic rock, Phoenician Drive is a six piece band formed in Brussels early 2015 by percussionist Diego Moscoso who gathered musicians coming from very different musical backgrounds (flamenco, balkan, psychedelic rock’n’roll, jazz, post-punk/new wave) in order to make drums and fuzzy guitars meet with oud and Eastern percussions. In the footsteps of earlier East-West musical blendings from the 70’s like Erkin Koray or Orient Express, and under the influence of the German “kraut-rock” scene (Neu!, Can, Faust, …), Phoenician Drive searches the hypnotic trance based on distorted oriental grooves. They appeared live mostly in Brussels & Paris (Botanique, Ateliers Claus, Wiels, Atelier210, Espace B), often inviting other guest musicians to add flutes, clarinets or saxophones to the performance.
