Vinyl version been out of print in UK for a while, not on a colourway for UK since its release in 2018. We were offered a colour vinyl run for the UK RSD in 2023, and here it is!!! A stalwart in the burgeoning OH SEES canon, one the bigger releases of 2018! You’ll notice the fresh dollop of organ and keyboard prowess courtesy of "Memory of a Cut Off Head” alum and noted key-stabber Tom Dolas...the Quattrone/Rincon drum-corps polyrhythmic pulse continues to astound and pound in equal measure, buttressed by the nimble fingered bottom end of Sir Tim Hellman the Brave and the shred-heaven fret frying of John Dwyer, whilst Lady Brigid Dawson again graces the wax with her harmonic gifts. Aside from the familiar psych-scorch familiar to soggy pit denizens the world over, there’s a fresh heavy-prog vibe that fits like a worn-in jean jacket comfortably among hairpin metal turns and the familiar but no less horns-worthy guitar fireworks Dwyer’s made his calling card. Perhaps the most notable thing about Smote Reverser is the artistic restlessness underpinning its flights of fancy. Dwyer refuses to repeat himself and for someone with such a hectic release schedule, that stretching of aesthetic borders and omnivorous appetite seems all the more superhuman. On vinyl for the first time, these lost recordings from my wilderness years of 1989-1996 contain two of my favourite ever solo compositions in ‘Astral Girl’ and ‘Sunken Ships’. For me, the latter’s incendiary guitar, played by a then very young Micheal Mooney (Psychedelic Furs, Julian Cope, Spiritualized) is worth the price of admission alone. - Paul Simpson 2022 Paul Simpson was a founder member of The Teardrop Explodes, and is best known for his work as frontman of Liverpool post-punk band The Wild Swans. Their single ‘The Revolutionary Spirit’ so typified the genre that Cherry Red Records chose it to name their box-set focussing on the ‘second wave’ of Merseyside music. Alongside a new Wild Swans album, Paul’s autobiography ‘Revolutionary Spirit - A Post-Punk Exorcism’ is published in 2023. “Not only was Revolutionary Spirit by far the best single that we put out at Zoo, but The Wild Swans captured that young man’s idealistic vision thing better than any other bunch of English young men since The Brotherhood first put paint to canvas back in the 1950s.” Bill Drummond LIMITED EDITION COLOUR VINYL_ With a SIGNED Print
