THE BLAMERS - 'CLASS LIVING'

Formats
  • AGIT069 - LP
    5061041820021
Details

Sydney rock outfit The Blamers are a modern band—two modern men, two modern women—with a revolutionary bent. Utilizing the latest cutting-edge stereophonic technology, the group—fuelled by an obsession with early garage greats—are at the fore of a sonic campaign to simplify rock back to its basic proto-punk form. With hooky riffs and a healthy dose of tambourine, the group are preparing to release their debut album early-2024 after a string of singles. The Blamers have shared the stage with Aussie heavy hitters The Chats, Bad Dreems, Pist idiots and blistered clubs around Australia with their no bullshit, beer-soaked sound. It’s a wonder that a band like The Blamers hasn’t come earlier! If you like the hard ass style of 60s punk with the wit of The B52’s, here it is.

bvdub - 'THE DEPTH OF RAIN'

Formats
  • IF-112CD - CD
    0710473185653
Details

New album by the ambient master! Over the years, bvdub has garnered international acclaim for his ability to craft music. Prepare to be taken on an emotive journey through soundscapes and atmospheres. bvdub’s music transcends boundaries and speaks to the depths of the human experience, making this album a must-listen for all music lovers. ~ “My first day in China after two years away, I noticed a strange round object on the table – not only in appearance, but because it emitted musical notes, and my girlfriend literally doesn’t listen to music. Ever. Further inquiry revealed it was a handmade version of a steel tongue drum, made by her uncle for her niece, in the hopes that she would not only learn about music, but learn to love it. Neither of those came to pass. But what remained was an object whose sounds I couldn’t stop listening to. And couldn’t stop speaking to me. That afternoon, I spent a half hour completely detached from the world while I randomly tapped its various notes, until reality called again. As it always does. I knew I would need to do something more with that drum – not only for myself, but for its creator and creation. One morning, I sat down in my studio, the torrential rain outside nearly deafening through the open window, and let myself go. In the drum. In its sound and intent. In the rain that seemed it would never end. As I thought about all that had brought me back to the place where we existed together. About the life I had left but always wanted back – and all the joys and perils that come with wishes coming true. Recorded uninterrupted, live over 73 minutes, the session was then played back the same evening for the live electronic session that unfolded over it… one comprised of an infinite number of movements, from slight to sprawling, all bathed in a quiet restraint unlike any of my other work. Perhaps the result of its intent being about something bigger than myself. Perhaps an unintentionally pure example of one loneliness exchanged for another in my strange form of coming home. Perhaps an unconscious show of humility in the face of life and the world. Or, perhaps, a contemplation on the true depth of rain it seemed would never end.” – Brock Van Wey

Details

A banger so hot we're worried it might melt the wax its pressed on. An earworm fished out of the bottom of a tequila bottle. Featuring ethereal vocals from Brisbane's very own. Ecstatic synths meet gigantic, pogoing bass. A track that's already run up plays in the tens of millions and gone gold on the charts, now yours to play out every night in a world exclusive. Do we need to explain who FISHER is? Surely not. The pro surfer-turned-pro-ducer has been on a dream run since his breakout in 2017. He's been nominated for a Grammy, went multiplatinum in Australia with his first single, has rabid fans across the globe and regularly plays humungous stages from Ibiza to Paris and Mexico City. 'Atmosphere' features Fisher's fellow Queenslander Kita Alexander on vocals and if you want to see it going off in front of thousands of people, here's something that he prepared earlier. Fisher's 'Atmosphere' is our very first Impressed 12" which spotlights DJs and electronic producers of all stripes. It's pressed onto exclusive rainbow regrind heavyweight vinyl - true collectors items with no two records the same. This vinyl is strictly limited to only 500 copies. Includes an individually-numbered, specially-designed obi strip. Fisher has 1.8m Instagram followers and the song has over 74M plays on Spotify. Atomsphere came in at #14 on The Hottest 100 on Triple J.

BABITHA - 'BRIGHTER SIDE OF BLUE'

Formats
  • IMP014 - LP
    724022496527
Details

This was one of our albums of 2023 (Double J agreed, too making #16 in their Album Of The Year Countdown). Released in mid-January, it soundtracked our late Australian summer. It’s not a record that’s easily pigeon-holed. Is it alt-country, with a nod to Gillian Welch? Is it classic rock, mined from a similar vein that Chrissie Hynde has drawn from? Is it indie-folk, a lighter, brighter Jen Choler? You tell us. ‘Brighter Side of Blue’ was recorded in Bellambi in the Illawara throughout 2022. Featuring Cecil Coleman from Body Type on drums, and Russell Fitzgibbon (who also released Skeleten’s ‘Under Utopia’) on bass and co-production, it’s a beautiful shiny record that glistens like the sea in that part of Australia, a place where the waves meet ancient escarpment. This exclusive re-issue of “Brighter Side of Blue” is limited to only 300 copies on baby blue heavyweight vinyl, with an individually-numbered obi strip.

LIMINAL - 'WHITE DOTS'

Formats

Details

We kept hearing about them. About these ‘kids’ from the hills somewhere up in the Northern Rivers of NSW. Who could play - like really play - and could make face-melting psych-jazz-rock that sounded fresh and reverent all at the same time. We walked into Howl & Moan on a trip up to Byron and they told us about them. They sold us this record that had just come in. And it was so good that we bought them all - all 100 - from the band to sell to you. We watched the videos from their - own, self-curated - festival, Anemoia. They made and edited them too. Our jaws picked themselves up from the floor. Liminal are aged 17-20. And they made this all themselves. The feeling that we had was similar to that first time we heard Innerspeaker. But darker, yet also a little more playful. Trust us, if you like early Tame, if you like Pond, or even those Australian psych overlords KG&TLW, we think you’ll dig this record. This is Liminal’s second album. They are currently writing and recording the third one, deep in the hills behind Lismore, Australia. If you ever wanted to be a part of something before it becomes something, now is your chance.
