BRYONY PURDUE - 'DRIPFEED'

Details

**SIGNED COPIES** After over a decade of international touring and nearly three years since its recording, critically acclaimed Scottish born artist Bryony unveils her debut album 'Dripfeed' – a stunning 15-year musical distillation that transforms personal trespasses into transcendent art. The self-released,self-produced album represents a bold artistic statement from an artist who has already graced stages from Edinburgh to Canada and collaborated with global superstars. 'Dripfeed' emerges as a genre-defying masterpiece that seamlessly weaves together influences spanning Radiohead's experimental textures, Cocteau Twins' ethereal atmospherics, and the hypnotic grooves of Massive Attack and Portishead. Bryony's distinctive approach incorporates live strings, chromatic harmonica, analog synths, and reverberating acoustic textures to create what she describes as "the liminal space between genres" – a dreamscape that recalls the romantic nostalgia of Fleetwood Mac filtered through the contemporary sensibilities of Weyes Blood and the experimental depth of Pink Floyd. The album's sonic palette draws from Bryony's extensive musical vocabulary, incorporating cross rhythms reminiscent of Tool's progressive complexity alongside the elegant simplicity of folk traditions. Her haunting female vocals navigate between the intimate vulnerability of Lana Del Rey's 'Norman Fucking Rockwell' era and the ethereal sophistication of artists like Air and Morcheeba, while maintaining a distinctly British sensibility that echoes through every track. "Spanning 15 years, 'Dripfeed' distills the experience of getting totally lost down the rabbit hole of my early twenties," Bryony explains. "In working on this album I have inadvertently taken back the reins of my life after assault and learned so much about so much. I'm lucky I had music to draw out most of the poison of some of the less than happy moments and I hope this music can do that for others too." This deeply personal journey manifests in music that builds with hypnotic intensity – moving from calm, acoustic textures through mid-tempo explorations to moments of profound emotional catharsis. The album functions as both protest song and love letter, ambient soundscape and rock anthem, always maintaining the elegant, emotive quality that has made Bryony a sought-after collaborator and performer. Bryony's credentials speak to her artistic versatility and industry recognition. She has appeared on the legendary 'Under The Apple Tree' sessions with 'Whispering' Bob Harris, and in 2025 alone, provided vocals for Ed Sheeran's tracks 'Azizam' and 'Sapphire' while opening Glastonbury Festival on the Pyramid Stage alongside the Citizens of the World choir. Her decade-plus of international touring has honed a live sound that captures the album's intricate arrangements while maintaining the raw emotional power that defines her artistry. The album's title track serves as both mission statement and healing anthem, embodying Bryony's philosophy of gradual, intentional transformation. Like the slow, steady process that gives the album its name, 'Dripfeed' reveals its depths through repeated listening, with each track offering new textural discoveries and emotional revelations. With its combination of vintage analog warmth and contemporary production sophistication, 'Dripfeed' positions Bryony as a significant new voice in the neo-folk and alternative music landscapes. The album stands as testament to the transformative power of art, offering listeners a chance to experience their own healing through Bryony's carefully crafted sonic journey.

POLYPORES - 'HUNGRY VORTEX'

Formats
  • FC64 - LP

Details

Final LP of a productive year for Feral Child is an absolute cracker. The latest of a long line of superb full lengths from Stephen James Buckley's incendiary Polypores project. This one is arguably his most adventurous outing to date, the undeniably psychedelic “Hungry Vortex”. Four extended pieces exploring polyrhythmic fixations and cosmic jazz-prog freak-outs. Percussion-heavy opener ‘The Body Is The Spaceship’ is a fine example of the sort of seamless organic growth we tend to see in Polypores’ music, with slewed synth blips and rolling polyrhythms gradually twisting into unrecognisable strands of melody and unconventional groove before your very ears. The prog-heavy ‘Wizards!’ sees Buckley’s trademarked playful use of time-signature changes, providing such a wealth of emotional and stylistic variance and immeasurable enjoyment without changing key once (honestly, who needs keys). It’s brilliantly evocative too and could indeed perfectly soundtrack a mushroom-trip wizard march. As we flip the record over, the flutey flourishes and minimalist clicks of the title track draw the listener into a trancelike state, repeated movements spiralling like myriad creatures crawling over a candy-coloured horizon, echoing forth into an inviting sonic oblivion. It’s ostensibly electronic, yet somehow more natural organism than machine, with little concern for the grid, or indeed, the rules. Finally, we end on something a little more subdued - the reassuring classicism of the beautiful ‘Void High’, with washes of warm noise and wobbly delay lines whirring and twinkling away, closing the record with an experience that is undeniably emotional, spiritual and as always, uniquely Polypores. This is a wonderful record with which to close the year out, it comes in a magnificent, spot varnished Jake Blanchard sleeve. A superb record released as a one time only vinyl pressing.

MANIZEH - 'MAHKU'

  • LTR056 - LP

Details

Manizeh Rimer, founder of London’s Love Supreme Projects, announces her debut album Mahku, releasing on vinyl and all digital platforms on December 5, 2025 via LEITER. A bold contribution to contemporary spiritual jazz, the album was co-produced by LEITER labelmate ganavya – who recently released the celebrated Daughter of a Temple and Nilam. Recorded in early 2025 at LEITER’s Funkhaus Studio in Berlin, Mahku features eight chants, including a reimagined version of Fleetwood Mac’s Landslide, with ganavya appearing on three tracks. The album brings together a stellar cast: Grammy-nominated Jai Uttal; bassists Ben Hazleton and Doug Weiss; harpist Miriam Adefris; pianist Jay Verma; and Manizeh‘s teenage daughter, Mahku Rimer, on vocals and guitar. Tracks range from a 3,000-year-old Zoroastrian prayer (‘Ashem Vohu’) to Sanskrit and Buddhist mantras (‘Asato Ma’, ‘Gate Gate Paragate’) to the devotional ‘Avan’s Sita Ram’, dedicated to Manizeh‘s late mother. Mahku means “eclipse” and is also the name of Manizeh’s grandmother. Developed from her long-standing chanting practice and deep creative partnership with ganavya, the album opens and closes with three generations of women’s voices, exploring music as a timeless, intergenerational loop. Recorded in a space Manizeh describes as “suspending you in an infinite river of time,” Mahku is both personal ritual and universal offering, flowing through lineage, loss, and love.

Vinyl edition of 500 ‘Night smoke’ marble double vinyl, in gatefold packaging newly designed by Forest Swords Shrinkwrapped with hype sticker Remastered by Rashad Becker in Berlin With two previously unheard tracks from the original sessions - one exclusive to this pressing Re-released for the very first time via the artist’s own label Dense Truth Forest Swords' debut album 'Engravings' is back in print on vinyl and CD for the first time in years, newly remastered by Rashad Becker with previously unheard bonus tracks exclusive to this edition. Created by electronic producer and composer Matthew Barnes, and originally released via Tri Angle Records, 'Engravings' received instant acclaim from the likes of Resident Advisor, Pitchfork, The Guardian and saw Barnes take his hypnotic live show across festivals like Sonar, Glastonbury, Unsound and Le Guess Who. While much of British electronica is defined by its inner cities, 'Engravings' was recorded in Barnes' hometown on the banks of an ancient river in Merseyside, the album's earthy, organic soundscape reflected the landscape and climate: all silt and sandstone, woodlands and wind, with the ghosts of Liverpool's pop music and clubbing history echoing in the near distance. The album was a prototype for a sonic vocabulary Barnes has expanded on over the next few years: in critically acclaimed studio albums ('Compassion' and 'Bolted' via Ninja Tune), collaborations with Massive Attack and Neneh Cherry, remixes for the likes of Bjork, as well as commissions for video games, ballet and film scores - of which he has carved a career as an in-demand composer and sound designer. 'Engravings' is a snapshot of an artist confidently defining their own language: a piece of work that distills influences like dub, ambient, rave, post-rock and psychedelia into an ancient-futurist musical vision that feels timeless and vital.

RUDE FILMS - 'RUDE FILMS'

Formats
  • RF001CD - CD
    5061041821837
Details

Straddling the boundary between discordance and serenity, Rude Films contrast light and dark to craft alt rock that is foreboding yet hopeful. Since 2018 they’ve occupied the dank mills of Manchester, heavily inspired by their precursors but determined to carve out their own sound. In early 2025 this fourpiece delivered their debut album, a self financed, self titled underground masterpiece! Initially a self pressed vinyl only release, sold only at shows and via their local record shop, Piccadilly Records, fast forward to the end of the year and they’ve decided to release a CD version to help get their music further afield. A wise decision. From the opening brooding moments of "Where Have You Been Lately?", the Manchester quartet explode into a cacophony of shoegaze infused noise-rock on "Mort Subite". From there, things don't even begin to slightly let up as Rude Films then slam into the monster that is "Death Hex". Pummelling walls of sound that act as the perfect statement of what this band is capable of. A statement of which carries on with the fuzzed out and driving "Religion" and the sprawling and frenetic "Serenity". Elsewhere, tracks like "Blood On The Tracks", "Wide-Eyed Boy" and "A Lonely Moon" take a more atmospheric and textually rich route, whilst the jangly and anthemic "You're The Image I Can't Forget" sets its sights on your heart. Closing up on "Black Snow", the entirety of the record comes to a cataclysmic crescendo with frontman Aaron Hill-Southern spitting his guts out over the Deafheaven-esque finale. Immediate, massive and with plenty of noise to back them up, we've not been this excited about a new band from Manchester in a while. Their album follows a standout 2024, playing a string of shows in support of post-punk heavyweights IST IST and being labelled as ‘ones to watch’ by their local BBC introducing show. With an end of year headline show at Yes in December, 2026 looks like a new horizon is opening up. CD version printed up in an edition of 300 (first press).

ANDY BOAY - 'YOU TOOK THAT WALK FOR THE TWO OF US'

Formats
  • DooW - LP

Details

This is the first new Andy Boay album since 2013’s In The Light. I recorded it in January 2024 to a Yamaha MT8X 8-track cassette recorder in my room at the New York Center for Creativity & Dance in the East Village of Manhattan. I mixed it in June 2024 with Joe Santarpia and Roberto Pagano at the Idiot Room in San Francisco. The three songs on Side A (“HBM,” “If I Ever Come Off,” and “You’re In The Air Now”) were initially arranged over several live performances using a multi-track looper. When I then sat down to track them to my tape machine, I meticulously sang and played out all repeating parts, layering and ping-pong-bouncing each doubled take to another tape-track. In this way I hoped to maintain the hypnotic quality of the looped parts while keeping them organic, singular, and fleeting. Side B is a triptych of more carefully arranged pop songs: a tremolo & mod-delay elegy to youth called “Careless,” bookended by two variations on the same theme — the stark, mellotron prayer of “One & One” and the lonesome after-hours funk of “I Want More”. The line “You took that walk for the two of us” has a dual meaning. In 2011, my friend Spencer Gilley took a long walk through Montreal while listening to demos I’d recorded. He described the experience to me as magical, ecstatic, inspiring. His encouragement from that moment still echoes every time I sit down to write or record. Less than a year later, I met Florida musician Thomas Fekete. We formed a deep, brief friendship that lasted until his death in 2016. Thom entered my life during a chaotic time and helped me find direction and courage. He took me on a tour that shifted the course of my life. We bonded over surviving cancer as young men, Florida’s noise scene, and the strange lives we led as touring guitarists (he in Surfer Blood, me in Mac DeMarco’s band). Thom could always warmly anticipate all of my joy, humor, and curiosity—and all of my pain, anxiety, and fear. In this way, it felt like he was also taking that walk for the two of us—gently guiding me down a path he had already traveled. Andy Boay (Andy White) began playing and recording music as a teen in Orlando during the early 2000s, exploring noise, psych, and pop in bands and solo projects. He has played in the duo Tonstartssbandht with his brother Edwin since 2007. He spent six years playing guitar in the touring band for Mac DeMarco. Andy Boay’s music taps the euphoric and the sorrowful, both onstage amongst friends and strangers, and tracking alone at his 8-track in the studio. These days he lives and works in the East Village neighborhood of New York City.

"The Shout is one of the great films about sound...Rupert Hine’s inventive score combines experimental electroacoustic music with synths and organs... (his) use of synthesisers evokes an eeriness also found in Brian Eno’s 1970’s scores for Derek Jarman and Peter Greenaway." Suzy Mangion, audio theorist + electronic artist. Jeremy Thomas’ 1978 production of The Shout, adapted from a short story by Robert Graves and directed by Jerzy Skolimowski, is highly regarded amongst British horror and electronic music fans due to its bold, arthouse approach to psychological drama, propelled by experimental studio techniques and visceral sound design. The film’s score and audio effects were almost entirely created by the songwriter and record producer Rupert Hine (Thinkman, Quantum Jump, Rush, Stevie Nicks, Kevin Ayers, Nico, Howard Jones, Underworld, Tina Turner & more). Rupert recorded reels of ideas and experiments for the film between 1977 and 1978 using an EMS VCS3, Yamaha CS80, Eventide Harmoniser and Roland Space Echo. He also created Crossley‘s terrifying shout and other foley effects such as the musique concrète for John Hurt’s studio scenes.
