SICK GAZELLE - 'VELD'

Details
With their second LP Veld, Sick Gazelle take their cosmic and instantaneous group communications to new levels of clarity and structure, without losing the spark of the jam. The band expands from longtime Chicago underground players Eric Block on guitar (Veloce) and vocalist/saxophonist Bruce Lamont (Yakuza) with drummer Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth) to include Douglas McCombs (Tortoise) on bass. Though these five tracks are sculpted from improvisations, they’ve been refined into song forms that illuminate the strengths of both the individual players and the chemistry of the quartet version of the combo. This comes through in Veld’s moments of reflective subtlety on tracks like “I’ll Come Running,” in the foreboding tension of the cinematic “Ocean Always Wins,” as well as in the charged grooves and dubby undercurrents of the sideways rocker “Hippies.”

Fabienne has been finessing her unique blend of neo- and classic psych, ye-ye, and ‘60s beat inspired pop since releasing her debut solo album No Time For Sorrows in 2004. She’s now about to release her brand-new studio album Indigo Red. Fabienne’s recording of ‘I’m Gonna Haunt You’ (from 2004's No Time For Sorrows) was featured in the second season of the massive BBC show Killing Eve opening her music up to a wider audience. Since her 2019 album Four Fabienne has been working on tracks for her new album Indigo Red. This is her first album to be recorded at Gizzard Studios by Ed Deegan (ex Toe Rag Studios) at the controls and co-produced by Delsol and Deegan. It features a crack team of musicians including Thomas Gardner, Carwyn Ellis, and Bradley Burgess, and Rupert Brown. The album mixes new original songs with covers of songs by artists including Silver Apples, The Count Five, Sharon Tandy, and Francoise Hardy. Fabienne Delsol BIO: French-born vocalist Fabienne Delsol started her musical journey drumming and singing in various garage/beat bands in late ‘90s London and eventually forged a solo career boasting four highly treasured albums on the esteemed Damaged Goods label. Her albums are a mix of originals and covers of obscure songs from the ‘60s. In 2019, she released Four, an album that featured Delsol's first production credits. "On Four, Fabienne Delsol has returned with what is possibly her strongest album. She commands your attention with affecting melodies while her band complement every lift and fall. If you've never stepped into her Nuggets inspired world, now is the time to." With a love for fuzz guitars, psychedelia, French pop and exotic soundtracks, Fabienne imbues a coolness of ‘60s styling, and with her haunting voice breathes life into an array of studiously chosen tracks. She has now just finished her fifth album. ‘I’m Gonna Haunt You’, a track written personally for Fabienne’s debut album No Time for Sorrows received extensive airplay on Australian radio on the Triple J “Hottest 100” and has more recently soundtracked a pivotal scene in the second series of the BBC black-thriller Killing Eve.

Details
Siltbreeze is proud to once again release a critical, unearthed treasure pertaining to the legendary Christchurch, NZ scene, PRE Flying Nun. Much like the The Spies The Battle Of Bosworth Terrace LP (2013), this archival collection of tracks titled An Afternoon With Victor Dimisich has never before been released & it's historical significance cannot be overestimated. We don't want to give too much away—Bruce Russell's brilliant summation/insert lays it all out-but we will share what Roy Montgomery (who was there) fired off wryly by way of a press release; Which of the following is true?: These songs were captured in demo form primarily to flesh out the threadbare Pin Group repertoire in early 1981. These songs were captured in pared back form because certain people felt that some very tender Cogle/Stapleton works were being lost in VDB steamroller mode. These songs were captured in rough form because four men in their twenties had a spare afternoon, a crate of beer that needed drinking, and a soft spot for dark ballads. All of the above. One time pressing, amazing timestamp insert included.
