MOMEN - 'SYMPATHETIC RESONANCE'

Formats
  • UOH022 - LP
Details

Momen is the London-based duo of Iván Muela (piano/guitar/electronics) and Nat Philipps (saxophone/electronics), who balance poise and catharsis throughout the eight movements of their début album, Sympathetic Resonance. Equally inspired by Bach, Sakamoto, and time spent in post-punk bands, their world of jazz-influenced experimentation and spacious ambient textures thrives on the subtle transformations embedded within apparent stillness.

Details

Nakagawa’s musical roots lie in the improvisation and noise scenes of the Kansai region in Japan. After performing with electric bass and effects, he transitioned to the cello as a self-taught musician, developing a unique sonic language over more than 15 years. His practice spans composition, performance, and direction, as well as collaborations with dance, theater, and contemporary visual art. As one half of the duo project KAKUHAN (with Koshiro Hino), he has performed at festivals in Japan and internationally. He is also a member of Saraudon, a collaboration with CS + Kreme, releasing work via the UK label Modern Love. This album brings together these diverse practices into a single, focused form: one cello.

ELEH - 'FLOATING FREQUENCIES / INTUITIVE SYNTHESIS VOL 1'

Formats
  • IMPREC125 - LP
    793447512525
Details

When ELEH's debut Floating Frequencies/Intuitive Synthesis I was originally released it was praised as a powerful piece of new electronic minimalism. Twenty years later the artist's legacy has grown while ELEH continues to hypnotize new listeners with time stopping music. Critics, fans and neurologists have praised the music of ELEH as aiding attention and focus while seeming to slow time. Eleh's slow change drones are a state of flow hypnotizing listeners into meditative focus. From the original packaging, "Pure Sound. Pure Volume. Pure Analog. Dedicated To La Monte Young" ELEH began in 1999 as an exploration of analog synthesis, emphasizing low frequency difference tones and other resonant acoustic phenomena. ELEH highlights the physical presence of sound as it has been inspired by the physical world. There is also something ‘cathedral-like’ and cosmos-inducing in the sound constructed by ELEH. This audiophile quality presentation of ELEH's debut album was mastered by Tom Eaton at Sounds And Substance and manufactured at Optimal in Germany for the lowest possible noise floor and the highest analog resolution. Packaged using a 5th color metallic shimmer ink on solid black board stock. "Nuances of sound turn symphonic." - New York Times “ELEH’s sounds move by stealth and are sculpted from the world rather than from ego. Eleh is not a personality; Eleh is an idea about sound. ELEH forces you to contemplate the cosmos and your place in it. “ - Gramophone "ELEH demonstrates how a single amplified gesture delivered just so can reveal the inner workings of an entire cosmos." - Tony Herrington/Wire “Floating Frequencies/Intuitive Synthesis more than lives up to the mythic status that ELEH has ascended to. “ - Brainwashed "ELEH's music electrifies whatever space it engages. With the flip of a switch, it exposes the ways in which all space is, potentially, electric." ~ Frieze "The stuff that Eleh sets in motion from whatever electronic sound generators he/she deploys represents a measured and methodical paring away of all that might appear superfluous, baroque and rococo. Each of the tracks here consists of just a handful and discrete (and discreet) but highly charged sound events that emerge, overlap, recede and reverberate at critical frequencies over extended durations. At certain crucial points this approach serves as a formula for opening a portal what David Toop has referred to as the dark void, that spectral realm magicked into being (or exposed by) the drone, in which audio apparitions and chimeras dance through smoke and mirrors, suggesting the existence of occult planes and dimensions, multiple other realities, worlds within worlds." (Tony Herrington in The Wire)

THE BOYS - 'DAMN THOSE EYES / NEVERMIND THE BOTOX'

Formats
  • DAMGOOD647 - 7"
    5020422064775
Details

On 7th August 2026 THE BOYS release a double A-sided limited-edition vinyl single on Damaged Goods Records. ‘Damn Those Eyes’ and ‘Never Mind the Botox’ were recorded last year at The Planet Of Noise Studio in Limmared, Sweden. Both songs are taken from The Boys sixth official studio album to be released December 2026. Along with the Sex Pistols, Clash and The Damned, The Boys were part of the first wave of the mid-1970s UK punk explosion. Armed with an arsenal of killer Steel/Dangerfield songs The Boys became the first UK punk band to sign an album deal in January 1977. Highly regarded by the music press and their contemporaries, their well-crafted songs, together with Steel and Dangerfield’s love of harmonies, led to them being described as ‘The Beatles of Punk’ but they could (and should) just as deservedly have been compared to the Ramones ¬– fast, alternately brattish and tongue-in-cheek, and gloriously anthemic. The new single features original founding members and songwriting team Matt Dangerfield and Casino Steel, along with long time members Chips Kiesbye & Kent Norberg (from mega Swedish band Sator) & Martin H-Son (ex-Backstreet Girls). Renowned international filmmaker, and ex bass player from The Crybabys, Danny Garcia makes a guest appearance on ‘Never Mind the Botox’ as well as providing promo videos for both songs.
