DEERHOOF - 'PLAYS MUSIC OF 'THE SHINING''

Formats
  • FC237 - 7"
Details

Stanley Kubrick has a troubled past with Deerhoof. An argument over whether Eyes Wide Shut was good almost broke up the band in 1999 and again in 2003. When Famous Class suggested a 7" of music from The Shining, the band waffled for three years about whether they thought they could do it justice. But once a Halloween release date was proposed, Deerhoof couldn't resist. They got the score to Bartok's "Music For Strings, Percussion and Celesta" out of the library, and transcribed one of the 20s songs straight from the closing credits. Music that in the movie echoed from some ghostly, gilded past takes on a more urgent character in Deerhoof's versions, as if to underscore that the horrors of white supremacy, oligarchy, and domestic abuse are alive and well in 2018 America. Deerhoof plays the music of the shining. Deerhoof plays the music of the shining. Deerhoof plays the music of the shining. Deerhoof plays the music of the shining. Deerhoof plays the music of the shining. Deerhoof plays the music of the shining. NEARLY / JUST 200 COPIES OF THIS ON GREEN VINYL AVAILABLE FOR THE UK!!!
