Noted Art And Terrorism Since 1990: The infamous Headbutt were one of the most cacophonous live bands of the decade, multiple basses, multiple percussionists grinding out monsterous grooves and feedback for a sub primal vocal howl from somewhere beyond the edge of the known world. Lost in the slew of metal bands and techno that swamped the stages and pages at the time, Headbutt plowed an increasingly lone furrow with their infectious brand of extreme music and playful attitude. That John Peel loved them says it all. This live album catches Headbutt at a peak of driven intensity with a set of songs ranging from the caustic rhythmic gyrations of ‘Mouse Patrol’ and ‘Oh Barcelona’ to the rampant almost garage rock of ‘The Shooting Party’ and ‘I Fix Shit’ (both songs released as 7”s back in the day). This touring line up was a stripped down 4-piece comprising of Keith Goldhanger (bass & vocals), Ashley Davies (bass), Kirsten Reynolds (percussion), Lewis Richardson (percussion). The last three tracks are some recently unearthed material originally recorded for an abandoned EP project with Chris P additionally on percussion duties. Ashley, Kirsten and Lewis tthese days play with The London Dirthole Company, Keith occasionally joins them for the odd song as well as playing along with Ashley on the upcoming Hercules II album on Radiowave.
