Sympathy at home is the debut physical release by Whait, comprising musicians Wendy Eisenberg and more eaze - aka Mari Rubio. Following a celebrated digital-only debut hosted by the Residence Project, sympathy at home folds in both artists’s musical languages into a singular lingua franca; an intuitive, spontaneous music that yields surprising moments of joy and discovery. Whait’s music is bathed in love and celebration, a continuation of both artists’s deep-grooved furrows in current human music. Recorded largely in the duo’s home studios in New York in-between vigorous touring schedules, sympathy at home displays an intuitive dialogue between the two, a testament to the individuals’ labyrinthine connections to the experimental, folk, electronic and “avant rock” underworlds but also to their interwoven lives. It arrives at a particularly busy point in the members’ trajectory through the landscape. Eisenberg’s self-titled 2026 album marked a milestone for the artist, transmuting their multi-genre mastery into a folk music informed by the baroque pop of Judee Sill, Van Dyke Parks et al swimming in generous melody and structural invention. More eaze’s career posits her as a musical nexus that, along with countless collaborations and guests, boasted two solo 2026 solo albums for Thrill Jockey. Her work across these two records expanded her core instrumentation of violin, electronics, guitar into beautiful meditations on form and emotion.
